Sahara Reporters Accused Obiano of Lying About $5Million Vegetable Exports

According to Sahara Reporters online, an investigation has revealed that the alleged $5million Vegetable exports from Anambra State is nothing but a lie and total scam by the Governor of the State, Gov. Willie Obiano.

Recalled that recently, Gov. Obiano claims to have exported millions worth of vegetables to Europe. He said this Exports are mainly from pumpkin leaves and bitter leaves.

Meanwhile, SaharaReporters has found that, as part of Mr. Obiano’s campaign, he used images allegedly from Anambra farms depicting luscious produce, including red tomatoes.

Pictures has been circulating on Internet platforms featuring photos of tomato farms said to be producing “European standard” tomatoes. But, Sahara Reporters claims to have  reverse-image- searched the photos being circulated by Obiano’s government, and found that the images were lifted from other websites and not from Farms in Anambra.

For example, an image of young vegetable plants actually comes from an Internet page from August 13, 2014, titled “Irrigation Practices in West Africa.”

Also, Another photo in circulation by Gov. Obiano can be traced back to a 2010 blog post by an American named Chris Courtin, who had taken the photo during his fellowship in Nyumbani Village in Kitui County, Kenya.

Sahara Reporters Also claims that officials of Anambra State also visited the cargo section of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos to pose with agricultural produce headed to South Africa with hurriedly made banners draped over one or two of the cargo parcels.

Meanwhile, every attempt to reach Mr. Obiano to ask certain questions, including information on the location of state farms large enough to produce agricultural products worth $5 million in exports, the specific companies used to ship the produce, and end-receiver documents from European buyers, has ended in futility so far.
