Another Violence ensued Yesterday at Ogun community between the suspected Niger Delta Militants and Security Operatives assign to the convoy of Ogun State Deputy Governor Chief Yetunde Onanuga.
The militants reportedly opened fire on the convoy of Onanuga who was on a mission to acces the level of destruction caused by the militants last week. The Deputy Governor was accompanied by accompanied by the service chiefs in the state such as the Brigade Commander, 35 Artillery, Army Brigade, Alamala Barack,
Abeokuta, Brigadier – Gen. Mohammed Danqalis, the Director of the
Department of State Security Service (DSS), Ogun State Command, Mr.
Kabiru Sanni and the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations), Mr.
Bello Makwashi.
Trouble started at Akoka Ebute area of Ibafo, in Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area when
suspected militants opened fire on the security operatives that
accompanied the deputy governor prompting the Security operatives to respond swiftly and repel the attack from the militants who later flee back to the creek and escape in the process.
Reacting to the gun battle, the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Taiwo Adeoluwa, expressed concern over the
deteriorating security situation in the affected communities and called
for urgent Federal Government’s assistance citing the need for heavy Military presence as a necessity.
Meanwhile, The state delegation later made a detour from the troubled area after
the deputy governor had assured the residents of commitment to their
safety.
