But then, how do you handle this lecturers since most of them are usually the powerful types, you cant bluntly say no to them, if you do then its the beginning of your troubles in school. You cant equally agree to do their bidding because its going to destroy your moral standing right? then you definitely need a way out. Good news is, you can handle sexual harassment from any lecturer with this 3 simple steps.
1. Be Courageous: Yes! Courage is the ultimate thing when trying to deal with sexual harassment. Whenever a lecturer makes advance on you, do not show sign of fears, do not be shaky, do not show weakness because, just like a predator, fear is what they feed on.
I know you might be thinking " but am a lady, how am i suppose to fight my lecturer" well it's simple, being courageous does not mean you have to be violent, it simply means you have to be bold irrespective of the circumstances. Don't appear vulnerable no matter what, don't appear helpless or clueless, always give the impression that you know what to do even when you don't.
Once an older lady called me and towards the end of the call, she said she wants to spend 3nights with me, I was shocked at the way she had so much confidence. I had to Improvise I said "Madam,which church is the night vigil holding at". She was equally shocked at my response too, she just laughed and told me something is wrong with me. Well i don't care what she says, all that matter is the fact that she dropped her silly interest due to fear of the unknown! instead of me being the victim and becoming a sex toy to one sugar mummy, i courageously turned the table. That is courage and a lady can equally do that too, After all "What a man can do.....a lady can do better" so i heard.
2. Be Tactful: If you truly have to be courageous in any situation, you need tactics. Just like the example i gave above, you cant afford to look foolish while trying to show courage and that's why you have to be very tactful when dealing with a lecturer who is a pervert. Courage will save you but Tactics will make it easy! Make sure you don't sound rude while trying to turn down a lecturer's advances because if you do, you hurt his Ego, and we men don't like it when you stroke our ego, believe me.
I read about a lady whose lecturer wants to have an affair with her and i was marveled at how she handled the situation, she simply told him "sir,I appreciate the fact you like me but you are married and you are my lecturer.please sir I'd like to keep this official and I'll really appreciate if u understand.I promise not to tell anyone about this." That was an epic response and a show of maturity! the part where she promised the man not to make the matter public is a good tactic and a good way of making the lecturer feel secure. With this, you can easily turn down anyone and make the person your friend at the same time.
3. Look for the Edge: Yes, this is the kill switch. We know how stubborn and erratic some lecturers could be when it comes to getting what they wanted. That is why you need an edge over those kind of people, what am i saying? get something that you can always use against them when it comes to worst. You can always record your conversation whenever a lecturer invites you to his office or any unusual place, Dont do it with the aim of using it to blackmail the lecturer, but be prepared to use it as evidence if there is any need to report to the higher authorities.
Also, the first thing you should always do as a lady whenever u get an invite from a lecturer is to let him know that you didn't come alone even if you did. Lie just to give him the impression that you're not alone and believe me he wouldn't want to get silly for fear or the unknown.
Remember, don't ever be saucy, be calm and always let the lecturer express himself no matter what.
