His name is Adel Kermichen and he is 19 years of age, was living with his parents in Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvray before the attack. he has been arrested twice on terror suspect in both France and Switzerland for attempting to join ISIS and he was placed on electronic ankle tag to monitor his activities after which he was released on bail with the conditions of free movement without supervision between between 8.30am and 12.30pm every day.

According to Sister Danielle, a nun who escaped the attack, Kermiche and his accomplice attacked and killed the priest between 9am and 11am.u they entered the church building, they forced the 84years old priest to his knees. He wanted to defend himself, And that's when they slit his throat.

However,  both of them were shot and killed by police marksmen as they emerged from the building shouting 'Allahu Akbar'.
